AMARELA RESORT

Nature, Culture, and Comfort Come Together

Our Beginning

Amarela Resort began as the vision of Lucas “Doy” Nunag, a proud son of Antequera, Bohol, whose deep love for local art, antiques, and heritage inspired him to collect and preserve pieces of Boholano craftsmanship. What started as a private family retreat on Panglao Island gradually grew into something more meaningful—a boutique sanctuary where travelers could experience the island’s culture, nature, and genuine hospitality.

From a modest seven-room bed and breakfast, Amarela has evolved into a cultural destination known for its distinctly Boholano character. Traditional design, handcrafted details, and curated local art shape every space, complemented by modern comforts, lush gardens, and calming sea views. Guided by sustainability and the warmth of a dedicated local team, each stay invites guests to slow down, reconnect, and feel truly at home.

Today, Amarela remains rooted in its founding vision: preserving heritage, embracing eco-conscious living, and sharing the authentic spirit of Bohol through heartfelt, meaningful experiences.

Heritage By The Sea

Today, Amarela stands as a living gallery by the sea. Every corner tells a story, where repurposed wood, antique furnishings, and celebrated local art blend seamlessly with the comforts of a refined, modern escape. We welcome you not just as guests, but as family, to experience the genuine warmth of Filipino hospitality amidst lush gardens and sweeping ocean views.

We invite you to embrace a slower pace—to savor farm-to-table flavors, wander through our art gallery, and reconnect with nature and culture. More than a destination, Amarela is an immersive journey into the heart of Bohol, thoughtfully designed to inspire balance, reflection, and joy.

Arts and Culture

Amarela is a living gallery that celebrates Bohol’s art and craftsmanship. Every space features handcrafted furniture, heirloom pieces, and restored antiques that reflect the island’s creative soul.

Explore these stories throughout the resort and in the Amarela Art Gallery, home to curated works by Boholano artists.

Sustaining Nature, Honoring Heritage

At Amarela, sustainability isn’t just an initiative—it’s a way of life. Designed to live in harmony with nature, our resort runs on solar energy, collects rainwater for our gardens, embraces open-air architecture, composts kitchen waste, and minimizes single-use plastics. These mindful practices create a sanctuary where guests, gardens, and local wildlife thrive together.

Our commitment also honors people and heritage. By showcasing Boholano artistry and empowering an all-local team, we celebrate the island’s culture while nurturing its future. When you stay with us, you become part of this story — helping preserve Bohol’s beauty, soul, and community.
